Cosmos Bar and Grill on 124th St. hosted the most recent Inglewood Community Pub Night on Friday, July 6. About thirty people came out to enjoy some complimentary appetizers such as onion rings, chicken wings, and other Greek pastries and salads. Conversation was lively around all the tables and included discussions on city planning, Inglewood’s upcoming renewal program, community soccer, the World Cup, the Eskimos, to name just a few.
Inglewood hosts a pub night at a local bar about every 3 months. Attendance is free. The Inglewood Community League sponsors some food and door prizes for residents who are Community League members. Membership is currently free. Watch out for our next pub night announcement to be held sometime in September.
Bring your family to enjoy the Show and Shine to enjoy the integrity of classic cars on August 5th from 10am to 5pm at the Inglewood School park, 12525 116th avenue; pets are welcome on leashes and are required to be cleaned up after. Perhaps you want to bring your car to be featured; a $10 entry fee for car owners only which will go to the Inglewood Neighborhood Table. Classic cars will be at Inglewood Community Hall parking lot to be admired by everyone.
Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy classic 60’s and 70’s live music preformed by Ruby and the Hitmen. The younger ones can participate in face painting and bouncy castles. And don’t miss internationally known comedian/entertainer, Matt Gore, also known as The Ginger Ninja from 11am to 1pm with your favourite food from one of the 5 food trucks. The event is also handicap accessible.

These events are always fun and popular – our last pub night drew close to 60 people, and featured some karaoke performances by some of your friendly Inglewood Community League board members.
Rob Lutes is widely known for his superb songwriting, finger style mastery and soulful vocals. Since his first release, Gravity, in 2000, the Montreal-based musician, originally from Rothesay NB, has become widely known for his impassioned live performances, extraordinary playing, improvisational magic and intense, gritty vocals. He is a former Kerrville winner and Maple Blues, CFMA and Lys Blues nominee.
Lutes’ 2009 studio release, widely acclaimed Truth and Fiction spent three months in the EuroAmericana Top 10. His sixth album, The Bravest Birds, recorded in Montreal in 2012, features 12 original compositions and a cover of Loudon Wainwright’s gem Natural Disaster. Award-winning Montreal songwriter Dale Boyle co-wrote two of the tracks. The album features blues, Americana, contemporary singer-songwriter genres and the blazing instrumental Turning Point. Lutes regularly tours Canada, Europe and the U.S. as a solo performer, in duo with Quebec guitar legends Rob MacDonald or Rick Haworth, or in a full-band format.
